President Muhammad Buhari has reportedly defended his joke on wife Aisha Buhari, where he said she belongs in the kitchen.
The President had caused an uproar when he told German press that he doesn’t “know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room, and the other room.”
This was after Aisha had expressed her displeasure at his regime, saying she wouldn’t vote for him in 2019 if things remained this way.

Speaking with Deutsche Welle presenter Phil Gayle, the president revealed that there was a bit of truth in the joke, as it was Aisha’s duty to take care of him.
He said, “I am sure you have a house. …
You know where your kitchen is, you know where your living room is, and I believe your wife looks after all of that, even if she is working.”
He also added that he thought it was right for her to stay out of politics.
