Aisha Edward, an activist and founder of Centre for Moral Mentorship, has called for the outright ban on beauty pageantry in Anambra State following a lesbian sex video of the deposed Miss Anambra and her posted social media recently .
She commended the wife of the state’s governor, Ebelechukwu Obiano on her swift response to her open letter, emphasizing that there is a dire need for institutions and people willing to invest in beauty shows to donate them to Obiano’s wife’s charity programmes .
“I want to thank Obiano’s wife for rising up to restoring the dignity and integrity of our women. Her response shows that CafĂ© cares about women moral values and respect to our cultural norms and ideals,” Edward said.
Mrs. Obiano was reported to have said that she is liaising with her husband to unravel the case and serve justice to the parties involved, provide necessary motherly counsel, rehabilitation and also protect citizens’ rights as well as guarantee their security under the Law “
The governor’s wife also said that she has sent some emissaries from her office to the home of the young lady at the center of the worrying video clips for any necessary motherly protection and investigation is still on-going “
“Therefore am appealing to all to wait patiently for the investigation to be completed. We should also be weary of our actions and inactions and stop spreading the videos or making reference to the story forthwith. I am calling on our men folks to help us in stopping this. Anambra women, Igbo women, and women world over are never known as such.
“I am also using this opportunity to charge our women to rise up to their parental moral responsibility. It is high time we trained our children on the way to grow. And I’m also congratulating Her Excellency for feeling the heart beats of the women and being there for them consequent upon her timely responds to our clarion Call was highly commendable from a role model like her, who has promised to save us from feeling ill over such dehumanizing Scandals “
Meanwhile, she called on Mrs. Obiano to fashion out ways of partnering the churches to get women engaged in moral education and Instructions while appealing to government and relevant authorities to make pageantry domicile in the office of the Federal, State and Local Government Ministries of Women Affairs as well as offices of the First Ladies so as to bring sanity into it.
“Government must as a matter of necessity bring back our moral instructions and education back to our schools”.
